CLEANWATER

Multifunctional sustainable adsorbents for water treatment assisted with plasma technologies and for health protection from xenobiotics

(Objective I) Synthesis, modification and characterisation of sorbents and their composites for the efficient adsorption of heavy elements/metals (HEM) including radionuclides, persistent organic pollutants (POP) and contaminants of emerging concern (CEC) present in fresh water.
(Objective II) Assessment of the impact of the atmospheric nonthermal (“cold”) plasma, NTP on water decontamination from target pollutants.
(Objective III) Design and characterisation of novel enterosorbent (ES) compositions for health protection against chronic exposure of the population to the pollutants consumed with water and food intake.

(Objective IV) Study of the mechanisms of pollutant removal by novel materials and processes.
(Objective V) Enhancing the socioeconomic impact of the project and raising its profile.
